The Romeo Savings Bank was built in 1863 and has always been and is still currently a bank. It opened in 1864 as the First National Bank. In 1913 at its grand opening after a remodel from a brick to limestone exterior, the celebrations attracted the Dodge brothers who came to view its more extravagant architecture and interior. In 1927, there was another remodel, which was redesigned by Bond & Hubbard Co., who built banks in the Detroit area. The exterior grew by expanding down the block to the south and the interior redesign featured crafted moldings, marble countertops, and an updated security vault. A harpist played classical music as visitors entered the bank during their grand reopening in 1927.5,8 It is currently a PNC Bank, but its historical features can still be admired.
